No one likes things that are difficult. So UndergroundPlays.com has a super simple pricing plan for royalties:
A flat rate of -
$20 per play, per performance,
or-
$75 for unlimited plays, per performance.
Simple, right? No pulling out the calculator to figure out any percentages of expected ticket sales--you can do this math right in your head!
Let's look at an example. Say you want to perform just one of the plays that we offer for just one weekend--maybe one show on Friday night, one show on Saturday night, and a Sunday afternoon performance. The total license fee you would have to pay would be $60 for that production ($20 x 3 shows = $60).
But what if you wanted to have your Friday night and your Sunday afternoon performance, but you wanted to have two performances on Saturday--a matinee and an evening performance? In that case, the fee would be $80 because you are performing one play a total of 4 times ($20 x 4 shows = $80).
What about picking three plays, and only doing two performances--say a Friday and Saturday? The fee would come out to be $120 ($20 x 3 plays x 2 shows).
Following along? Great!
Now (even doing the math in your head without your calculator) you will see that if you are performing three or less of the plays that we offer, you will want to just use the $20 per title option. But maybe you want to have an entire evening of our short plays? If you are going to be using four or more plays, then it will be cheaper for you to pick the "unlimited" option. In this case you only pay $75 per show to use any (or even all) of our plays for that show.
So going back to the original example of three shows on one weekend, the total license fee for four or more plays would be $225 dollars ($75 x 3 shows). If you were having the two different performances on Saturday again, the fee would then be $300 ($75 x 4 shows) total.
Feel free to send us an email if you are having difficulty determining what your total license fee should be. Someone will be glad to assist you.
